Computer Scammers trick people into giving personal
information
It has come to light that computer scammers posing as microsoft support staff are telephoning members of the public to sell fake security products that can cause pcs to be hijacked and critical information stolen from the pc.
Apparently this method of scam is quite common and it has happened on thousands of occasions. It is a progression of 'scareware' where a user downloads some piece of software which triggers security pop ups designed to convince the user that their pc has been infected with malware. In these cases the object of the scam is to get the user to buy security software from a site that they will be directed to .
